GTA 6 Gameplay Reveal Peaks at 3.97 Million Viewers

GTA 6 reveal reaches 3.97 million peak viewers

Rockstar's first GTA 6 gameplay presentation reached 3,970,738 peak viewers across livestreaming platforms, according to data reported on August 29, 2026. Streams Charts counted 9,038 streamers covering the presentation, producing 5,227,798 hours watched and making it the biggest gaming stream of 2026 so far.

The audience surpassed Summer Game Fest 2026, which reached a 3.81 million peak, as well as June's Nintendo Direct and State of Play broadcasts. Twitch generated about 44% of total viewing time, followed by YouTube at 34.8% and Kick at 20.2%.

IlloJuan leads the reaction-stream audience

Spanish streamer Juan Alberto "IlloJuan" García recorded the highest individual peak at 233,520 viewers. Rubius followed with 191,056, while IShowSpeed reached 177,887 during coverage of Rockstar's presentation.

The event also generated more than 100,000 related chat messages during Streams Charts' three-hour measurement period. Between 65% and 72% of those messages were neutral, positive posts represented 11% to 15%, and negative posts made up roughly 17% to 20%. The reported criticism focused largely on access problems affecting Twitch and Netflix rather than the footage itself.

Netflix and Twitch struggled under launch demand

The 26-minute GTA 6: An Extended Look premiered on Netflix and remained exclusive there for six hours before appearing elsewhere. IGN reported that the presentation used only PlayStation 5 gameplay footage, while Eurogamer reported that some viewers could not access Netflix or Twitch for 40-50 minutes.

Cloudflare's figures show Netflix traffic rising 16% worldwide during the presentation and 45% in the United Kingdom. Twitch averaged a 12% increase across the three hours after the premiere, with a 35% peak, while YouTube traffic jumped 39% when the video launched there at 1am. Rockstar's own website recorded the largest increase: 172% globally and 1,210% in the UK.

GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19

Rockstar has scheduled Grand Theft Auto 6 for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The reveal showed more of Jason and Lucia, Vice City, robberies, shootouts, driving sequences and their relationship, while Rockstar also detailed changes to wanted levels, carjacking and romance systems.

The reveal changes the choice for tonight

GTA 6 is still a future console release, so it cannot be the immediate option for a player choosing a server tonight. However, the 3.97 million-viewer peak and the 172% jump in traffic to Rockstar's site show that the game's attention is already operating at event scale, making November 19 a major date for players planning their next long-term game.
